Here's a quick detail from the "courtyard" set that I'm building. For this sign I used foam letters but they look pretty much the same as fridge magnets, I'll pick up a couple more sets of them tomorrow and make some more signs for you to see.
To build this one I took two long matchsticks and then used all purpose glue to attack the letters, once the glue was dry I based the entire thing in a black/brown mix and let that dry. After that I just put on a couple of coats of bright red acrylic and then aged it back down.
The windows are made of popsicle stick frames and coffee stirrers for the interior of the window.
